After graduation, Tammy took the less beaten path. Choosing to
contribute her time and talents to community service, she volunteered
with the Deep Ellum Film Festival, Asian Film Festival of Dallas,
Tarrant County Asian American Chamber of Commerce, and the Vietnamese
Community of Greater Dallas. While organizing charity fundraisers,
cultural events, and civic functions like the Miss Asian American
Texas Pageant, she has had an amazing opportunity to meet and work
with some of her community's brightest, most ambitious, and talented
young leaders.
While attending school and volunteering with her community, Tammy
worked extensively in front of and behind the camera. She appeared
in films, television, industrials, commercials, and print campaigns.
Some of her most recent projects were national commercial spots
for TGI Fridays, PepBoys and Showtime; a billboard campaign for
Coca-Cola and RadioShack; and industrial spokesperson for CompUSA
and SBC. She has also written, produced, and directed her own shorts
and features, several of which were screened in Dallas film festivals.
This passionate and aspiring young Asian American female filmmaker
hopes to reshape the media image of the modern woman and break new
ground in Hollywood by helping others learn more about the Asian
American people, culture, and history. Recently awarded the Women
in Film College Scholarship, Tammy deferred law school to forge
her own path as one of a handful of graduate students selected to
attend the elite Producers Program at the University of California,
Los Angeles. She currently resides in Los Angeles where she holds
memberships in Women in Film/Dallas, Asian American Professionals/Dallas
(PA2), Asian American Professionals Exchange/Los Angeles (APEX),
is a SAG eligible member, and volunteers for Reading to Kids.
